Tower International's James Gouin

CEO

James (Jim) Gouin was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Tower International and became a member of Tower’s Board of Directors in January 2017. He also served as President of Tower International from September 2016 until January 2017. Jim joined Tower in November 2007 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

During Jim’s tenure, as CFO he helped to established Tower’s Internal Control Quality Operating System (ICQOS), was integral in the successful completion of the company’s Initial Public Offering, and recapitalization of the Tower’s debt which significantly reduced interest expense through a number of strategic debt actions. Jim also served as President of Tower’s China Operations. He is a respected leader with valuable expertise working with investors and rating agencies. He has over 30 years of experience in finance with extensive experience in the areas of regulatory reporting, internal control, cash management, cost control and process improvement. Jim served as vice president and controller of Ford Motor Company Global Operations and as the vice president of finance, strategy and business development for its International Operations. He also served as the chief financial officer of Ford’s North American Operations.

While at Ford, Jim focused on the development of recovery plans to improve Ford’s automotive business with special emphasis on operational improvements, cash management, and internal control. He also focused on process improvements and integration of Ford’s worldwide accounting and finance operating systems, including product development, material costs and forecast accuracy. Further, he was responsible for leading a team that improved Ford’s operating cash flow by approximately $5 billion over a two-year period through process understanding and improvements in working capital and inventory financing. Jim was a key interface with the Ford audit committee and a regular participant in meetings of the board of directors. He is the former chairman of the Ford Disclosure Committee and Finance Personal Development committee. Prior to joining Tower, Jim was a senior managing director in FTI’s Corporate Financial practice based in Troy, MI.

Jim is on the Board of Directors and a member of the Audit Committee for Exterran Corporation, a worldwide market leader in oil and gas production equipment, natural gas compression, produced water treatment solutions, and gas processing and treating.

Jim is Chairman of the Board for Vista Maria, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing abused and neglected girls with emotional, education, psychological and spiritual guidance to facilitate their transition to adulthood as productive, contributing members of society. Previously, he served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Detroit Mercy.
